We can tell you very little about filing claims under the disability systems of countries other than the United States. If you are an alien filing a claim under the US system, or a US citizen living in another country who wants to file a US claim, there are topics on those issues.

I live in Canada, and have been collecting disability benefits for agoraphobia, panic and severe anxiety, as well- I have reactive hypoglecemia, asthma and somataform disorder. I also have pcos, which is not disabling, I was just sent for an independent psychiatric exam...here they call it an IME. doctor states I am severely impaired in and of themselves by my symptoms. I got a letter stating i continue to satisfy the definition of disability. He made reccomendation that I seek cognative behavioural therapy as well as vocational rehab. yet he contradicts and says that after eight years of being disabled and crippled by my symptoms...he says my chance of returning to gainful employment is less than five percent. I am wondering if they can terminate my benefits.

Betty: I cannot answer any questions about how things work in Canada; I have enough trouble keeping up with how they are supposed to work down here.

Hey Paul, My name is Courtney and I just turned 18, last month, I have been living with my bf for over a year now, and I have just recently been diagnosed with anxiety, the doc said that I had a panic attack. I do work but its hard, I have quit most of the jobs that I have had and even fired from one. At work I refuse to take breaks because I feel like sitting at my desk for 8 hours a day (at a rebate processing centre ) would be better then having to face people, and have the feeling of them watching me. I don't even know how to go about handling this, my bf is an electrician apprentice and we live in a house, so he needs me to help pay for the bills, but it seems very difficult to work. I live in Canada and know nothing about Disability and if i could apply for it, how long it would take to get and so forth, any info would be highly appreciated!
Thanks
Courtney

Woops! Canada! A whole different system! Do not rely on a single thing this entire website says! Talk to a Canadian lawyer.

I will say that, laying law aside completely, it is almost always better to work if you can, even if it is a bit of a struggle. This is not always true, particularly if there is some medical hazard involved in working.

Take care and good luck.
