I could make some of the visit. I am not working I can't pay for the visit too the thearty what am I to do.

Reply by Paul: You well might be qualified for disability; you should consult with a local attorney about that. You need treatment for your hand, too. You might contact your local social services about Medicaid; you might contact Vocational Rehabilitation; you might contact the United Way, who usually knows about the other programs that might be available locally. Take care.

Hi, I am 24. I have a rare form of psoriasis. I have always had this. Most times I have problems just with my hands and feet. Sometimes it is really bad and sometimes its not bad at all. One year in high school I had to do homeschool because I could not hardly walk my feet were so bad. I ended up quiting school, but later got my GED. I have tried to work but it is very difficult for me. I took a nursing aide class and I loved my work in a nursing home but could not even do that for long. My husband works, but we barely get by. I live in South Carolina. I also have major complications from a condition I have called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. My feet are bad enough most times that I can't wear shoes. Is there any way I could qualifiy for disablity?

I am sorry about your condition. It is important that you work if you can, so you will remain eligible for Social Security Disability benefits.

It is important that you get as much education as you can, to have a better chance of getting a job in which you do not have to rely on the ability to stand and walk. It is much harder to do, but you also should try to become qualified for work that doesn't even require much use of your hands.

If those efforts fail, you should file. Absent special job qualifications, if you cannot use your hands and feet, you cannot work.

I am a 40 year old female. I suffer from severe chest pains daily, all day long. I also suffer from heart and chest wall spasms due to severve scaring across my back that limits my chest wall and movement. I have limited turning ablity of my neck due to scaring, and have had 2 surgeries to relief the limitation to no avail. I have limited bending and sitting and standing due to my burns, as well as limited reach and movement with both arms due to webbing and burns on my arms and back. I also have deteriated cartleg in both knees and they are both bone to bone and grinding. I have been hosiptalized several times. Noted for severe chest pains but my stress test was borelined at 49% and show no blockage. I have chest pains up on rest, waking and sleep. Every day. I have High blood pressure and and listed of diffrent meds including nitro for my chest pains. I am in pain all day long and have chronic fatigue as well. What are the possiblities of winning my disablilty case later this month I go to court ? Let me know what you thing ASAP. Thank you. Deanna

Deanna: If your chest pains come from your heart, and are uncontrolled despite medication even when you are sedentary, that might be the basis of a successful claim. If, because of your scarring, you cannot stand or walk, and you cannot use your hands for repetitive motion or writing or typing, that combination might disable you. There are probably several other possible ways to establish disability that would appear if someone examined your medical records and talked to you. You should get an attorney to make sure all of the facts of your case are proved in the way that the Administration wants. Take care and good luck.

Sorry about the delay in answering. Hope your case went well. Be sure to appeal if you have been turned down.

I have had Hidradenitis Suppurtiva for over 25 years, however just recently it has gotten so severe that I had to stop working. I've had three surgeries related to my Hidradenitis Suppurtiva disease and now I also suffer from depression. Do you think I may qualify for ssdi? (I have worked for 30 years so I think I don't need SSI only SSDI)

In short, maybe.

In long, Hidradenitis suppurativa is acne gone wild in the armpits and between the legs, and sometimes on the nipples and around the navel - these are the places with apocrine sweat glands.

If it is severe enough, you can't walk much without a lot of pain, and if that inability would push you over the edge because of limitations of education, etc., that make sit down work impossible, you might win your case that way.

If the problem is so severe under your arms that you can't move them very well, that might eliminate benchwork assembly.

If you have the skills for clerical work, it would somehow have to prevent you from anything more than occasional writing and typing. This might be because of pain, or because of depression.

Take care and good luck.
