Social-Security-Disability-Forum » Sarcoidosis

If you want to describe your situation and ask if you might have a disability claim, scroll to the bottom of this screen until you see a box, and tell us about yourself there.

Most people don't notice the following, so I am going to start making it in larger and larger type until most people start following the suggestions. If you are the sort of person who reads instructions, I apologize:
If you want a high quality answer, please be sure to include these facts about yourself:
1. Age.
2. Grade you finished in school.
3. The sort of work you have done.
4. What your diagnoses are; that is, what problems the doctor says you have.
5. What limitations you have because of your problems. This means what you cannot do at work because of your problems. Problems standing, sitting, using your hands, concentrating should be mentioned, as well as any problems attending work because of any psychological condition.
6. Your city and state.
7. Any other information that you believe is relevant.
8. Your specific question.

You need to get to an attorney I guess. It is hard to say whether you will win your case based on the information that you give me: There are many people with sarcoid that are working, and many people that cannot. It depends on the severity of the disease.

Sometimes you can do a little about speeding the claim up, by getting the medicals in fast, doind a consultative exam for them, and submitting the case for a decision without a hearing, if the judge will make it a favorable one.

But more often than not none of that works and you have to wait it out.

Take care and good luck.

My aunt has just been told after several months of extreme agony that she has sacoidosis. The doctor has put her on steriods but even then she can hardly walk and hardly ever goes out anymore because she cant get about. My aunt is only 43, she has to get 3 buses to get to work, but she won't stop working because she has worked in the same placed since she was 16 and couldn't see herself sitting at home doing nothing. She has really bad days where her feet have swollen up to 3 times their size and she has lost about 2stone so far. My family are getting worried and have asked her to leave work, but she won't because her husband suffers from bad serises (don't know how to spell it), diabetes, liver and kidney problems. She is worried that they will loose the house etc. Is there anyway that the DLA could provide my aunt with mobility.

Memory problems and deprteression 24 7. Doing my job has become vey hard. My sarcoid has never left me. I hurt every night don't sleep feel so tired that after work I do nothing but stare at the ceiling. I have become depressed and life doen't mater much any more. every thing it takes to work goes to my job. Nothing left for my life. I can see this is even affecting my husband. I am 57 . I don't know how long I can go on. What do I do?

Trudy: I am sorry; I missed this post and just found it. Of course your disability problems are only a part of your trouble. For that, be sure you have gotten any long term disability insurance that might be available to you at work. Maybe work as long as you can. Try to get some doctors lined up behind you and file a claim if you start missing work. You can struggle to work and file a claim at the same time, usually, provided that you are not actually working when you file.

Be sure to get some psychological or spiritual help about your despair, which I am sure is even a bigger problem for you than your physical one. There is plenty of potential for important good left in your life, however impaired you are physically and psychologically.
