This is a hard question to answer. If you have a college degree and can
earn a living by sitting behind a desk and dictating, or by drinking
coffee and pointing your finger and bossing other people around, no. If
you cannot read and write and cannot use either hand at all, yes. In
between it is very complex, and you really must talk to an attorney
carefully. As you get older, it becomes easier to win a disability
claim. |

I work as a cashier and was told yesterday by a surgeon that I need
surgery to correct DeQuervains disease. He told me I was eligible for
workman's comp. to help me. Not sure what to do. |

Worker's compensation rights vary by state, and you should contact a local attorney. |

I
have just had one surgery to correct de quervain's on one hand, and
will soon have to have the other hand surgically corrected. I spent
anywhere from four to seven hours a day--with no breaks even for lunch
at times--popping pills from unit dose packs. My employer gave me the
run around when I suggested that it was a workman's comp injury. What
are my recourses? |

I
am not wise enough to say whether to use worker's comp or not. You can
sometimes lose important rights if you do not. Talk to a local lawyer
about it. |
