If you want to describe your situation and ask if you might have a disability claim, scroll to the bottom of this screen until you see a box, and tell us about yourself there.

Most people don't notice the following, so I am going to start making it in larger and larger type until most people start following the suggestions. If you are the sort of person who reads instructions, I apologize:
If you want a high quality answer, please be sure to include these facts about yourself:
1. Age.
2. Grade you finished in school.
3. The sort of work you have done.
4. What your diagnoses are; that is, what problems the doctor says you have.
5. What limitations you have because of your problems. This means what you cannot do at work because of your problems. Problems standing, sitting, using your hands, concentrating should be mentioned, as well as any problems attending work because of any psychological condition.
6. Your city and state.
7. Any other information that you believe is relevant.

I am 54 years old. Have worked for 35 years and paid the maximum into SS for the past 5+ year. I was a national sales person for a technology company and that is the only job I had for all those years. I have a SS degree in business. I have not worked for three year and am going through a divorce.

I have an autoimmune disease that limits my access to the public and even a cold will put me in the hospital. I am in my 3rd round of cancer, have asthma, bone loss that limits my walking ability, and lupus.

My autoimmune disease has destroyed my pituitary gland, thyroid gland, para thyroid gland, ovaries, adrenal glands and almost my entire endocrine system. For this reason, I have no way to fight off common diseases. Anything that would cause nausea or fluid loss will put me in the hospital because missing 12 hours of my medicines is potentially fatal.

The lupus, bone loss and asthma are extensions of the autoimmune disease. I have a home, a car, no stocks, no bonds or savings. I do have a small retirement from 35 years service from my employer.

Would I qualify for Disability ?

Carolina: If you can prove all of that, I am sure you can. Of course you should be aware that there are some people who are disabled, but cannot prove it. Be sure that you have a doctor behind you, and that you can document your case, preferably with objective tests. Take care.
