can i recieve unemployment comp. and still be eligible for benifits from SSDI

Reply by Paul That is an impossible question to answer definitely. Whatever you do, there are risks.

There are cases that say that the mere receipt of unemployment benefits does not prove that you are able to work.

The unemployment forms of many states specifically ask you if you are able to work. If you say "no," you will not get unemployment in many states.

If you say "yes" on the form, some Social Security judges will subpoena the form and use it against you, at least as to those months during which you drew unemployment. Note that it is your statement, not the receipt of benefits, that they use against you.

If you do not apply for unemployment, often you or your children will go hungry.

Unemployment claims are usually processed far faster than Social Security claims.

It is common for the Unemployment Security Commission to deny your claim because you cannot work; and for the Social Security Adminstration to deny your claim because you can.

As far as I know, it is impossible for anyone to force these two departments to make a consistent decision.

If you hear a clear answer in the above statements, you have not read them well.

Some questions have no good answers. I am sorry.
