I have been living with a man 30 years and he has reocurring brain tumors. He falls and cant stand a lot of times .Can I get a check for staying with him? Reply by Paul If you are the mother of his disabled or minor child, and are married to him, you might be entitled to mother's benefits. If you marry him, you might be entitled to a retirement check once you are old enough, or a widow's check if he dies and your are over 50 and disabled, or over 60. If you live in a common law marriage state, you might be able to make a case that you are his common law wife. A common law wife is a wife, and a common law marriage is a marriage. In that case you could get all the benefits that a wife could get. You cannot get a check just for staying with him. |

I currently recieve S.S. benefits. My boyfriend and I are going to be married soon. He has been diagnosed with final stage liver disease and will become disabled at some point unless a miracle happens. Would he be able to draw any benefits as a spouse of a disabled woman? I live in Easley, S.C.Thanks! |

No. There are a lot of other potential categories, though. |

Probably. The dependent children of people who get Social Security Disability get a check in most cases. Please click herefor details. |
