If you are healthy enough to work, or your boss will put up with your problems, it is often wise to hang on. You almost certainly will not be able to go back once you let go.

You can draw both LTD and Social Security disability, but most LTD policies reduce their benefits by the amount of Social Security you get.

LTD can be any percentage of your salary; check the policy; it is often 60% of your "base salary."

Some bigger companies pay your health insurance premiums so long as you are on LTD; many do not. Check carefully to see what, if anything, your premium would be if you quit. It might be a lot more than you are paying now; it might not.

You might gather up your LTD and health insurance booklets and take them to a lawyer's office and together work out exactly what will happen if you quit.
