There are arguments that you should hire an attorney right away, to better control the development of the evidence in your case, or perhaps to hire an attorney after you are denied the first time, so you can see if you can win it on your own. But certainly, if you are turned down, there is something that you need to show, and you don't know what it is, so you should hire an attorney.
